Museveni wants curriculum realigned to meet private sector demands

"Restructuring the curriculum from primary to university is essential for producing graduates who can be absorbed into the job market. This move will help tackle the persistent issue of youth unemployment," Museveni said in his remarks delivered by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja at the 33rd graduation of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU.

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has called for a realignment of the national education curriculum to better meet the demands of the private sector, emphasizing the need for skills that are directly applicable in the job market. Speaking at the launch of the Presidential CEO Forum at State House Entebbe, Museveni highlighted the disconnect between the current educational outputs and the needs of industries, particularly in sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, and ICT. He stressed the importance of producing graduates who are not only employable but also capable of creating jobs, thereby reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth. Museveni's remarks underline a push towards vocational training and practical skills over traditional academic learning, aiming to make Uganda's workforce more competitive and responsive to market needs.
