SSM Health's Long-Acting Injection Clinic has been providing a new treatment option for patients struggling with addiction, with over 100 injections administered in May alone and one patient attributing their success to the clinic.

SSM Health is addressing the opioid crisis by offering a new addiction treatment program at its hospitals in Oklahoma, including St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City and St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee. The program, which began in January, provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) using buprenorphine, a drug that helps reduce opioid cravings and withdrawal symptoms. The initiative aims to treat patients with opioid use disorder during their hospital stay and connect them with ongoing care after discharge. This approach is part of a broader effort to combat the opioid epidemic by integrating addiction treatment into general healthcare settings.
