Bennett Environmental Inc.: Bennett Environmental Inc. Announces Expected Receipt of Material at Saint Ambroise Site

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 18, 2009) - Bennett Environmental Inc. (TSX:BEV) (the "Company" or "BEI") today announced that in connection with the Ontario government's announcement of the award of the Pottersburg Creek clean-up that it has in place an agreement to receive the PCB impacted material removed from the storage vaults at that site. Under this agreement the contractor will utilize the Company's Recupere Sol Inc (RSI) facility in Quebec for the treatment of PCB impacted soil. Previous government announcements had indicated that there was approximately 78,000 tonnes of material stored there however the request for proposal issued by the Ontario government in 2008 was clear that there was no certainty about the volume of material to be removed and treated from the site and that volume estimates were provided for bidding and evaluation purposes only. The Company expects that it will receive material for treatment from this project commencing the end of the second quarter of 2009.

In addition the Company announced that it expects to receive material by the end of February from a project in New Jersey. This material is related to a contract that the Company signed in the second quarter of 2008. The contract is to treat a maximum of 12,000 tons of contaminated soil. There is no commitment on the part of the client with respect to the amount of material that will be shipped under the contract or the timing of these shipments.

The Company continues to actively seek further project work but at this time it has no contracts or purchase orders other than these two projects.
