MDS Announces Special Meeting of Shareholders and Record Date

 TORONTO, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - MDS Inc. (TSX: MDS; NYSE: MDZ), a leading provider of products and services to the global life-sciences markets, today announced that the Company has scheduled a Special Meeting of Shareholders to seek approval of the proposed sale of MDS Analytical Technologies to Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR). The meeting, which will commence at 4 p.m., will be held on October 20, 2009 at the Toronto Congress Centre. The record date for the purpose of determining shareholders entitled to receive notice of, and to vote at, the Special Meeting is September 14, 2009. The MDS Board of Directors believes the proposed sale of MDS Analytical Technologies to Danaher is in the best interests of the Company and its shareholders, and unanimously recommends that shareholders vote in favor of the sale.
