Aetna Extends Time Joplin-Area Members May Visit Out-of-Network Facilities at In-Network Rates

LEAWOOD, Kan.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Aetna (NYSE: [ AET ]) has extended the period in which Joplin-area Aetna members affected by the tornado may seek non-emergency out-of-network care at an in-network benefit level.

Aetna members may now seek such care through June 21. The original time period ended today.

Aetna announced May 24 that affected customers also have additional time, interest free, to make payments that would have been due between May 22 and June 23 of this year. Those customers have until June 30 to make those payments. This time period also applies to customers submitting level I and level II appeals that are due during that time period. Health care providers are similarly being granted the same additional time for deadlines falling within that period.
