MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ensign Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: [ ENSG ]), announced today that it has acquired the underlying real estate and other operating assets of  Pocatello Care and Rehabilitation Center, an 88-bed skilled nursing facility in Pocatello, Idaho.  An Ensign subsidiary has been operating the facility since October 2006 under a lease with an option to purchase. The acquisition was effective November 15, 2011.

"This purchase reflects our deep and long-term commitment to Southeastern Idaho and to the state of Idaho generally," said Christopher Christensen, Ensign's President and Chief Executive Officer.  He added that he expects this facility to continue to build on the outstanding reputation developed by a dedicated team of caregivers.  

The purchase was made with cash and brings Ensign's growing portfolio to 100 healthcare facilities, 74 of which are Ensign-owned, three hospice companies and three home health businesses across 10 states.  Ensign affiliates hold purchase options on five of its 26 leased facilities. Mr. Christensen reaffirmed that Ensign is actively seeking additional opportunities to acquire both well-performing and struggling skilled nursing operations across the United States.
