RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.--([ ])--[ Health Net Federal Services ], LLC, part of the Government Contracts segment of [ Health Net, Inc. ] (NYSE:HNT) today announced it will host 2011 World Super G Paralympic Champion and U.S. Coast Guard Veteran Chris Devlin-Young at the 26th National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass Village, Colo., March 25 a" 30, 2012. Health Net has partnered with Devlin-Young for the past year to help motivate and inspire Veterans with disabilities to overcome physical and emotional challenges. Additionally, Health Net will be a national sponsor of the event in its continuing commitment to serving Veterans and programs that help improve their quality of life.

"My goal is to inspire and help others with disabilities to realize their potential"

aHealth Net is honored to continue our partnership with Chris Devlin-Young at the Winter Sports Clinic and help inspire courage and confidence in Veterans with disabilities,a said Tom Carrato, president of Health Net Federal Services. aAs a world and national paralympic skiing champion, Chris is a role model for athletes. His accomplishment can help others learn to thrive in the face of adversity.a

In 1982, Devlin-Young was on a Coast Guard mission in Alaskaas Aleutian Islands when his plane crashed into a mountain. He suffered irreversible spinal trauma as he attempted to save his fellow crew members from the burning wreckage. In 1987, his life was forever changed again when he participated in the first Winter Sports Clinic. Twenty-six years later, he is the current World Super G Sitting Paralympic Champion.

aMy goal is to inspire and help others with disabilities to realize their potential,a said Devlin-Young. aThe opportunities for athletes with disabilities are unlimited; they just need the courage and strength to reach out for help. The First Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic changed my life, and I hope that I can help make a difference in their lives, too.a

Sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the clinic is open to U.S. military Veterans with traumatic injuries and disabilities who receive care at a VA medical facility or military treatment facility. More than 400 athletes are expected to attend and participate in a variety of workshops and educational sessions that will positively impact their rehabilitative journey and readjustment in their communities. For recently injured Veterans, the clinic provides an opportunity to test their new-found abilities and develop new lifestyle skills.

In addition to serving as guest instructor and mentor to other athletes during the week-long athletic events, Devlin-Young will be participating in the 2012 U.S. Adaptive Alpine National Championships and NorAm, March 25 a" 28 at nearby Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colo. There he will compete in the downhill and Super G races. At this event, he is an eight-time Menas Overall Champion (2001-2009), and the reigning U.S. National Super G Champion, a title that he has held continuously since 2000. Attendees of the Winter Sports Clinic are invited to watch Devlin-Young practice and compete.
