MECHELEN, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - Jul 18, 2012) - Galapagos NV (EURONEXT BRUSSELS: [ GLPG ]) announced today that it has received a transparency notification pursuant to the Belgian transparency legislation (Belgian Act of 2 May 2007 on the disclosure of major shareholdings in issuers whose shares are admitted to trading on a regulated market) from Baker Brothers Life Sciences L.P. and Baker Bros. Advisors LLC.

Galapagos received a transparency notification on 13 July 2012 from Baker Brothers Life Sciences L.P., 14159 L.P. and 667 L.P., partnerships advised by Baker Bros. Advisors LLC. Baker Brothers notified that on 6 July 2012 entities under their control held 1,722,066 shares, which represent 6.48% of the current 26,577,554 outstanding Galapagos shares. It is the first time that Galapagos received a transparency notification from this shareholder.
