  • President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has outlined plans to prioritise investments in the digital economy and financial technology (fintech) as part of his strategy to drive economic recovery and improve livelihoods.

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to prioritize the development of a digital economy and fintech sector in Ghana to spur job creation if elected in the 2024 elections. Speaking at the University of Ghana, he emphasized the need for a robust digital infrastructure to support digital entrepreneurship, particularly among the youth. Mahama highlighted plans to enhance digital skills training, promote digital financial services, and ensure that the regulatory environment supports innovation in fintech. He also mentioned the importance of cybersecurity and data protection to build trust in digital transactions. His vision includes transforming Ghana into a hub for digital innovation, thereby driving economic growth and employment opportunities.
