UW Health is part of a new statewide initiative launching this month to strengthen mental health support for mothers during and after pregnancy.

UW Health has joined a statewide initiative in Wisconsin aimed at supporting mothers' mental health, particularly focusing on reducing maternal mortality rates and addressing mental health challenges during and after pregnancy. The effort, backed by Governor Tony Evers, involves collaboration with various healthcare providers and community organizations to enhance access to mental health services, provide education, and reduce stigma around mental health issues. This initiative comes in response to data showing that mental health conditions are a leading cause of maternal mortality, and it seeks to ensure that mothers receive the support and care they need during a critical time.
