Grand Rapids residents can once again break a sweat in the sunshine as free outdoor fitness classes return to city parks this summer.

The free outdoor fitness classes, part of the FitLot Method program, are returning to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in Tampa, Florida, starting March 25, 2023. These classes, designed for adults 50 and older, will be held every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. through May 20, 2023, and are led by certified fitness professionals. The program, which began in 2019, aims to promote health and wellness among seniors by providing accessible, community-based fitness opportunities. Participants can expect a full-body workout that includes strength training, balance, and flexibility exercises, all tailored to their fitness levels. Registration is encouraged but not required, and attendees are advised to bring water, wear comfortable clothing, and arrive early to secure a spot.
