Cubist Pharmaceuticals Appoints Alison Lawton to Board of Directors

LEXINGTON, Mass.--([ ])--[ Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ] (NASDAQ: CBST) today announced the appointment of Alison Lawton to its Board of Directors. Ms. Lawton is currently Senior Vice President, General Manager Biosurgery, at Genzyme Corporation (now part of Sanofi). With the addition of Ms. Lawton, the Cubist Board of Directors consists of 10 members, nine of whom are independent.

Ms. Lawton joined Genzyme in 1991 as an international regulatory affairs specialist. As head of Genzyme Biosurgery, Ms. Lawton is responsible for Genzymeas global orthopedics, biosurgical specialty (BSS) and cell therapy and regenerative medicine (CT&RM) businesses. The orthopedic business includes the Synvisc and Jonexa franchises; the BSS business consists of Seprafilm; and the CT&RM products include the autologous cell therapies Carticel, MACI and Epicel. Prior to this role, Ms. Lawton oversaw Global Market Access at Genzyme, which included Regulatory Affairs, Global Health Outcomes and Strategic Pricing, Global Public Policy and Global Product Safety & Risk Management. Before joining Genzyme, Ms. Lawton worked for seven years at Parke-Davis in the United Kingdom. She has a bacheloras degree in Pharmacology from the University of London.
