SAN DIEGO, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- [ OncoSec Medical Incorporated. ] (OTCBB:ONCS), which is developing its advanced-stage OncoSec Medical System (OMS) ElectroOncology therapies to treat solid tumor cancers, today announced that the company has been selected to present data from its Phase III and IV head and neck cancer studies at two upcoming conferences. Data from the Phase IV study carried out in Europe has been selected for a poster session and special oral presentation at the 5th European Conference on Head and Neck Oncology. In addition, data from the Phase III study carried out in the United States has been selected for a poster presentation at the 8^th International Head and Neck Cancer Conference.

OncoSec's most advanced stage treatment platform, OMS ElectroChemotherapy, is a targeted ablation therapy, which utilizes the OMS to locally deliver bleomcyin to the tumor. This treatment platform preferentially kills targeted cancer cells while sparing surrounding normal healthy tissue. OMS ElectroChemotherapy has been developed up to Phase III clinical trials in the United States for the treatment of recurrent head and neck cancer and in Phase I/II for the treatment of recurrent breast cancer. In addition, Phase IV pre-marketing studies to support the commercialization of the OMS system in Europe were also performed for the treatment of primary and recurrent head and neck cancers and cutaneous skin cancers.

About OMS ElectroChemotherapy

About Head and Neck Cancer

Most head and neck cancers are found in people over age 40. Men are two to three times more likely than women to have head and neck cancer, although rates in women have been rising along with their growing use of tobacco and alcohol. The number of new cases of head and neck cancers in the United States was 70,490 in 2008, accounting for about 3% of adult malignancies and the worldwide incidence exceeds half a million cases annually.
