Dartmouth Health experts have raised concerns about the impact of excessive screen time on children's development, particularly noting a rise in issues like anxiety, depression, and attention problems. Dr. Amy Drayer from Dartmouth Health's Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center emphasized the importance of balancing screen time with other activities to foster healthy development. She suggested that parents should encourage children to engage in physical activities, reading, and face-to-face interactions. The recommendations align with the American Academy of Pediatrics' guidelines, which advocate for no more than one hour of screen time per day for children aged 2 to 5, and consistent limits for older children.
