RONKONKOMA, NY--(Marketwire - April 3, 2009) - MedLink International, Inc. (OTCBB: [ MLKNA ]) announced today that MedLink and its CCHIT 2008 certified MedLink Total Office EHR 3.1 has been selected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to participate in the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) 2009 EHR Testing Program. MedLink qualified and was chosen to participate along with 9 other HIT Vendors to test EHR's as a tool to facilitate simplifying physician reporting under PQRI.

PQRI is a voluntary quality reporting program that offers a financial incentive to eligible healthcare providers. The program provides for the payment of up 2% of the total allowed charges for covered Medicare Physician fee schedules services to eligible healthcare professionals who successfully report PQRI quality measure. The 2% PQRI payments are in addition to the 2% e-prescribing incentive available to physicians that utilize qualified e-prescription tools, also available through MedLink's TotalOffice EHR.

Ray Vuono, Chief Executive Officer of MedLink, stated: "PQRI is a benefit to all participants in healthcare and the incentives provided for such programs are part of the plans President Obama and the current administration have to stimulate EMR adoption. PQRI encourages increased quality of care while helping to reduce the overall financial burden of healthcare. Successful quality reporting is a win for all party's involved."

As a result of enactment of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 passed by Congress earlier this year, for the first time financial incentives are provided to physicians who adopt and use Electronic Health Record technology (EHR) to improve both the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Federal law empowers the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to pay physicians between $44,000 and $64,000 over five years, beginning in 2011, for deploying and using a certified Electronic Health Record to care for patients.
