Edelman will work closely with LED Dental to communicate the key benefits of the VELscope VX and highlight the importance of identifying oral cancer in its earliest stages to increase the chances of survival.

A peer-reviewed clinical study of 620 low-risk oral cancer patients by the University of Washington showed the VELscope VX helped catch 28 lesions that would have otherwise been missed, including five other abnormalities that were missed by the practitioner's eye.
Detecting oral cancer early is extremely important, because the earlier cancer is detected; the greater the chances are for survival. The National Cancer Institute indicates that oral cancer is most often detected in late stages, when the five-year survival rate is less than 50%. When detected early, however, the five-year survival rate leaps to approximately 82%.
