More than 1,000 physician practices received payments from Humana in recognition of outcome and performance improvements made by their practices last year for their patients who are Humana Medicare Advantage health plan members. In 2011, Humana distributed more than $10 million to physician practices across the U.S. under the program for 2010 performance improvement results.

Humana payments to physician practices are based on the practicesa quality improvements in nine National Committee for Quality Assurance ([ NCQA ]) preventive and chronic-condition management areas. They are:
- Breast cancer screening
- Glaucoma screening
- Colorectal cancer screening
- Cholesterol screening
- Diabetes management
- Osteoporosis medication management
- Body Mass Index
- Diabetes Treatment Management
- Anti-rheumatic drugs for patients with rheumatoid arthritis
