Nwester: FHSU student, library to introduce story strolls to Larned families
- A Fort Hays State University student is introducing an interactive story stroll in Larned this spring, combining story time with health. The story stroll will feature about 10 podiums managed by the Jordaan Memorial Library. These will provide a place for stories and encourage physical and mental health.
The article from Hays Post discusses the upcoming 2024 Kansas legislative session, which is set to begin on January 8, 2024. It highlights several key issues expected to be addressed, including tax cuts, education funding, and Medicaid expansion. Governor Laura Kelly has proposed a tax cut plan that would reduce taxes for all Kansans, aiming to make the state more competitive. However, there's contention with Republican leaders who have their own tax proposals. Education remains a focal point with debates over funding levels, school choice, and curriculum content. Additionally, the expansion of Medicaid, which has been a long-standing issue, might see movement due to shifting political dynamics. The session is anticipated to be contentious, with both parties holding firm on their agendas, potentially leading to significant negotiations or standoffs.
