Honesty-Humility and Agreeableness both showed the highest means for middle-borns, followed in order by last-borns (youngests), firstborns (oldests), and only children.
A study involving data from over 700,000 adults has revealed that middle children tend to be the most cooperative among siblings. This research, published in the journal PLOS ONE, suggests that middle children often develop greater social skills and a tendency to compromise due to their unique position in the family dynamics. They are typically not the oldest, who might receive more attention and responsibility, nor the youngest, who might be more indulged. This finding challenges the stereotype of the overlooked middle child, highlighting instead their potential for adaptability and teamwork.
