South Jersey Healthcare Foundation Raises $475,000 for Community Outreach
Locale: UNITED STATES

CHERRY HILL, NJ - March 23rd, 2026 - The South Jersey Healthcare Foundation is poised to significantly expand its community outreach programs following a remarkably successful annual awards dinner held last week. The event, a celebration of frontline healthcare workers, generated over $475,000 in donations, far exceeding expectations and setting the stage for a robust increase in services offered to residents of South Jersey.
The gala, held at the Cherry Hill Country Club, drew over 250 attendees, including prominent community leaders, philanthropists, and - most importantly - the dedicated healthcare professionals who have tirelessly served the region, particularly through the unprecedented challenges of the recent pandemic. The evening wasn't simply a fundraising affair; it was a heartfelt tribute to the nurses, doctors, technicians, and support staff who consistently go above and beyond for their patients.
Mark R. Pritt, President and CEO of Cooper University Health Care, emphasized the vital role these caregivers play. "Our caregivers consistently demonstrate dedication and compassion, particularly during challenging times," he stated during the event. "This dinner provided a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude and recognize their unwavering commitment to our community's health and wellbeing." Pritt highlighted the increasing strain on healthcare systems nationwide and the importance of acknowledging and supporting those on the front lines.
While the awards dinner is an annual tradition, this year's event felt particularly resonant given the collective trauma experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare workers faced not only physical risks but also immense emotional burdens, and the Foundation's commitment to acknowledging their sacrifices was deeply appreciated. Several honorees shared personal stories of resilience and dedication, underscoring the human cost of the pandemic and the unwavering spirit of those who continued to provide care.
The funds raised will be strategically allocated to bolster several key areas of community healthcare. A significant portion will be directed towards preventative medicine initiatives, focusing on early detection and intervention for chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. These programs will include expanded mobile health clinics, increased access to health screenings, and community education workshops aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.
Recognizing the growing mental health crisis, particularly in the wake of the pandemic, the Foundation also plans to substantially expand its mental health services. This will involve increasing the number of therapists and counselors available to provide individual and group therapy, as well as developing innovative programs to address issues such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The Foundation is also exploring partnerships with local schools and community organizations to provide mental health support to students and families.
Beyond preventative care and mental health, the funds will also support the development of specialized treatments for complex medical conditions. Cooper University Health Care, a leading academic medical center, is at the forefront of research and innovation, and the Foundation's support will enable the hospital to invest in cutting-edge technologies and attract top medical talent. Areas of focus include advanced cancer treatments, cardiac care, and neurological disorders.
The Foundation also announced a new initiative focused on addressing health disparities within the South Jersey community. This program will target underserved populations with limited access to healthcare, providing culturally competent care and addressing the social determinants of health that contribute to health inequities. This includes initiatives to improve access to nutritious food, affordable housing, and transportation.
"The generosity of our supporters allows us to invest in programs that improve the health and quality of life for individuals throughout South Jersey," said a spokesperson for the Foundation. "We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to our mission and their belief in the power of healthcare to transform lives."
The Foundation is actively seeking volunteers and further donations to maximize its impact. Interested individuals can learn more and contribute at [ https://www.cooperhospital.com/ ]. Looking ahead, the South Jersey Healthcare Foundation aims to become a model for community-based healthcare, demonstrating the power of collaboration and innovation to create a healthier future for all.
