Kindred Healthcare Announces 32 Recipients of National Quality Awards

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (the aCompanya) (NYSE:KND) today announced that 31 of its nursing and rehabilitation centers and one assisted living facility have been named recipients of a 2010 American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (aAHCA/NCALa) Quality Award for demonstrating a strong commitment to quality improvement.

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is based on the core values and criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program, the nationa™s premier recognition for quality achievement. AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards consist of an entry level Bronze - Commitment to Quality Award; a more rigorous Silver a" Achievement in Quality Award; and the Gold a" Excellence in Quality Award, which requires applicants to address the Baldrige Programa™s Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence in its entirety. Recipient facilities have made quality outcomes and customer satisfaction top priorities.
