Dr. Lawrence Greenblatt, a distinguished physician and public health champion, has been appointed as State Health Director and Chief Medical Officer for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) has launched a new initiative called the "988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline," which offers free and confidential support for individuals experiencing mental health crises, including thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crises, or any other emotional distress. This service, accessible by calling or texting 988, aims to provide immediate assistance and connect people with local resources. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance mental health support across the state, with NCDHHS Secretary Kody H. Kinsley emphasizing the importance of this lifeline in helping individuals in their darkest moments and promoting a message of hope and recovery.
