"What I initially thought was merely the result of a hectic schedule and lack of rest has transformed into a more complex journey related to my health," Ivey said.
Jolene Ivey, a former Maryland state delegate, has withdrawn her candidacy for Prince George's County Executive due to health issues. She announced her decision after experiencing a series of health problems, including a severe case of the flu, a fall that resulted in a concussion, and a subsequent diagnosis of a brain tumor. Despite these challenges, Ivey expressed her intention to continue contributing to her community in other capacities, focusing on advocacy and support for issues like domestic violence and child welfare. Her withdrawal from the race was made public to allow her time to focus on her health and recovery, while still encouraging community involvement in local politics.
