AngioDynamics Appoints Vice President, Regulatory, Quality and Clinical Affairs

QUEENSBURY, N.Y.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--AngioDynamics, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANGO), a leading provider of innovative medical devices used by interventional radiologists, nephrologists and surgeons for the minimally invasive treatment of cancer and peripheral vascular disease, announced today that it has appointed Michael S. Sharp, Ph.D., 59, as the Company's Vice President, Regulatory, Quality and Clinical Affairs. Dr. Sharp will report to William Appling, Senior Vice President for Advanced Research and Development at AngioDynamics.

"Michael brings 30 years of experience in regulatory and clinical affairs working for a variety of medical device companies," said Mr. Appling. "He is a seasoned executive with a background in successfully developing clinical affairs and regulatory strategies. Dr. Sharp was most recently the senior vice president of regulatory, quality and clinical affairs at ConforMIS, Inc., an image-based orthopedics company that he joined in 2005. Prior to that he served in managerial positions in regulatory and clinical affairs for several medical device companies including Ikonisys, AAI International, Intelligent Surgical Lasers, VISX, Howmedica, Vision Laboratories, and Syntex. He was also an assistant professor of oncology and the director of clinical research and chief regulatory officer for Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University during 2003 and 2004.

Dr. Sharp is a Fellow of the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society and has a wealth of experience in regulatory issues and requirements, quality initiatives and clinical affairs as they relate to emerging and more established medical device companies. He has served on the editorial boards of several professional journals and is the author of more than 25 papers in the professional literature. Dr. Sharp received his B.A. from Chapman University, M.A. from the University of North Dakota and Ph.D. from California Coast University.
