CompCare Elects Joshua Smith to Its Board
TAMPA, Fla.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Comprehensive Care Corporation (CompCare) (OTCBB:CHCR), a company that provides behavioral health, substance abuse, and employee assistance programs for managed care companies and employer groups throughout the United States, today announced that it has elected Mr. Joshua Smith as Vice Chairman of its board of directors. Mr. Smith is one of the country's foremost thought-leaders in business and is a political advisor.
Mr. Smith brings a wealth of professional experience to CompCare. He is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Coaching Group, LLC, founded in 1998. Mr. Smith was the founder, Chairman and CEO of The MAXIMA Corporation, a nationally renowned consultancy company that became one of the fastest growing firms in the US and one of the country's premier African-American owned corporations in the course of its 20-year history. Mr. Smith sits on the board of directors of three Fortune 100 companies: Allstate Insurance Corporation, Caterpillar, Inc. and FedEx. Mr. Smith currently also serves on the Board of the US Chamber of Commerce, the Business Advisory Board for Sodexo, Inc. and is Chairman of the Board of Visitors of Bowie State University.
In 1989, former President Bush appointed Mr. Smith to serve as Chairman of the US Commission on Minority Business Development, a position he held until 1992. Mr. Smith also served on the Executive Committee of the 1990 Economic Summit of Industrialized Nations and chaired the Committee on Entrepreneurship and Innovation for the George Bush for President Campaign. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the George H.W. Bush Memorial Library.
Recently, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley bestowed a Governor's Citation upon Mr. Smith recognizing him as a Maryland Business Legend. The Citation recognized Mr. Smith's outstanding recognition and long-term business success in appreciation of his contribution to Maryland's vibrant economy; for his entrepreneurial spirit, inspiring leadership, courage and pursuit of excellence for himself, his family and his community.
Beyond serving on CompCare's board of directors, Mr. Smith will coach CompCare senior officers on strategic, regulatory and governmental issues as well as to help strategize new product offerings and strategic business relationships.
