  The competition took place as part of Army's 250th birthday parade celebration in Washington, D.C.

The 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart, Georgia, clinched first place at the Army's Best Squad Competition held at Fort Stewart from September 24 to October 6, 2023. The competition, which included 10 other squads from various Army units, tested the soldiers' physical fitness, technical and tactical proficiency, and teamwork through a series of rigorous events. The winning squad, led by Staff Sgt. Michael Johnson, excelled in challenges such as the Army Combat Fitness Test, weapons proficiency, a 12-mile ruck march, and various live-fire exercises. Their victory not only highlighted their exceptional skills and readiness but also earned them the right to represent the Army at the Department of Defense level competition.
