Specifically, strength training was linked to improved memory, while cardio exercises like running or swimming were associated with enhancements in executive functions such as planning and problem-solving. The study highlights the importance of a balanced fitness regimen that includes both types of exercise to support cognitive health as we age, potentially reducing the risk of dementia and other cognitive impairments.
