WALTHAM, Mass.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--NeuroMetrix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NURO) today announced that it has launched the website [ www.emginnovation.com ] to promote its ADVANCE NCS/EMG System to neurologists and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, to solicit technical and clinical input that will drive future product innovations, and to serve as a reference source and repository for neurodiagnostic educational materials.

"NeuroMetrix believes that innovation in nerve conduction and needle electromyography systems peaked in the late 90s, and this is a sentiment expressed to us by specialists with peripheral nerve expertise," said Michael MacDonald, NeuroMetrix's Vice President of Marketing. "emginnovation.com is intended to present our innovative NCS/EMG system, ADVANCE, to these physicians in an engaging and interactive manner. We also look for the site to serve as a feedback mechanism from both ADVANCE users and the US and international neurology and PM&R communities at large about what they are looking for in EMG equipment."

The ADVANCE System, developed by NeuroMetrix, is a platform for the performance of traditional nerve conduction studies and needle electromyography. ADVANCE is the industry's first truly mobile EMG device and offers innovative features including a touch screen user interface, sophisticated signal processing, wireless Bluetooth(R) communication and seamless interaction with a neurodiagnostic electronic medical record (EMR).

"NeuroMetrix is a leading innovator in neurodiagnostic technologies," said Shai Gozani, M.D., Ph.D., NeuroMetrix's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We have a decade's experience developing advanced instruments and electrodes that aid physicians in the assessment of diseases and injuries of peripheral nerves. We have created emginnovation.com to engage neurologists and PM&R physicians about their needs and expectations for advancements in NCS and EMG. We also intend this site to serve as a source for educational materials that will complement information available from neurology and PM&R professional medical societies."

About NeuroMetrix

NeuroMetrix is a science-based medical device company advancing patient care through the development and marketing of innovative medical device products that aid physicians in the assessment and treatment of diseases and injuries of peripheral nerves, and that provide regional anesthesia and pain control. To date, our focus has been primarily on the assessment of neuropathies. Neuropathies affect the peripheral nerves and parts of the spine and are frequently caused by or associated with carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes, sciatica, and other clinical disorders. We market systems for the performance of nerve conduction studies and needle electromyography procedures.

Our product pipeline includes a system designed to precisely deliver pharmacologic agents such as anesthetics and corticosteroids in close proximity to nerves ("perineurally") for regional anesthesia, pain control and the treatment of focal neuropathies such as carpal tunnel syndrome. We are also developing products for intra-operative peripheral nerve assessment and monitoring, and a neurostimulation based product that promotes nerve fiber regeneration for the treatment of acute nerve injuries such as those resulting from lacerations or other forms of trauma.
