Peter A. Marmerstein Appointed President of West Florida Division

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--([ ])--HCA (NYSE:HCA) today announced the appointment of Peter A. Marmerstein as President of HCAas West Florida Division effective April 1. Marmerstein replaces Dan Miller who recently announced his retirement.

As West Florida Division President, Marmerstein will have responsibility for 16 hospitals and 16 surgery centers on the west coast of Florida and near Orlando.

He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of HCAas CJW Medical Center, a two-campus hospital in Richmond, Va. Marmerstein has been with HCA since 2004 when he took his current position at CJW. Before that, he was CEO of several hospitals in Florida and California. He also was a regional vice president of operations at Paracelsus Healthcare Corporation, Houston, Texas, where he had oversight for up to 10 hospitals, six home health agencies and 14 physician clinics.

He received a Master of Public Administration in healthcare administration from New York University in 1982 and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Long Island University in 1977.

Miller has been West Florida Division President since 1998. A 30-year healthcare veteran, he has held a number of leadership positions including President of the Northeast Division from 1996 a" 1998. He was CEO of the Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point, in Hudson, Fla. from 1987 until 1996. His HCA career began in 1981 when he joined HCAas Management Company and served as Chief Executive Officer for two hospitals before moving to Bayonet Point.

He received a Master of Science in healthcare administration from the Medical College of Virginia in 1978 and a Bachelor of Science in industrial relations from the University of North Carolina a" Chapel Hill in 1968.
