WHOOP Expands Beyond Fitness: You Can Now Order Blood Tests Through the App

For the first time since its launch, the WHOOP fitness platform is taking a major step into the realm of clinical health testing. The company’s latest announcement reveals that users of its wearable and companion app can now order a range of blood tests—everything from vitamin D to hormone panels—directly from the WHOOP interface. This move marks a significant shift from a performance‑centric product to a more holistic health monitoring service, blurring the line between sports science and preventive medicine.


Why WHOOP Is Branching Out

WHOOP’s core promise has always been to help athletes recover, perform and stay healthy through continuous heart‑rate monitoring, sleep tracking and daily strain analysis. The new “Health Testing” feature builds on that data by adding a layer of biochemical context that was previously out of reach for most wearables.

“The body’s internal chemistry tells a story that no wearable sensor can read,” says Adam Saylor, WHOOP’s CEO. “By adding blood test insights, we’re giving users a richer, more actionable picture of their health and fitness.”

In a statement, WHOOP explained that the service will be offered in the U.S. first, with plans to roll out in other markets in 2025. The company also stressed that it is not positioning itself as a medical provider. “These tests are a tool for self‑management and do not replace a doctor’s diagnosis or treatment plan,” Saylor added.


How the Blood‑Testing Workflow Works

    Users log into the WHOOP app, navigate to the “Health Testing” tab, and pick from a catalog of panels. Options include basic panels like “Vitamin D & B12,” advanced hormone panels, metabolic panels (glucose, cholesterol, liver function), and even personalized panels curated for athletes such as testosterone, ferritin and thyroid hormones.

  2. Receive a DIY Kit
    WHOOP ships a kit that contains a pre‑labeled, temperature‑controlled container, a lancet, a sterile cotton swab, and clear instructions. The kit is designed to be user‑friendly for a finger‑stick sample, with no need for a phlebotomist.

  3. Collect and Ship
    After the user collects the blood drop, they seal the kit and mail it back to an approved lab partner. WHOOP has partnered with established clinical labs, including Quest Diagnostics, to guarantee accurate and certified results.

  4. Results Pop Into the App
    Within 3–5 business days, test results appear in the user’s WHOOP dashboard. The data is presented alongside the existing metrics—HRV, sleep, strain—to help users see how their biochemical status influences performance.

  5. Interpretation & Guidance
    WHOOP offers AI‑driven recommendations, such as “consider vitamin D supplementation if your level is below 30 ng/mL.” However, the company cautions users to consult a healthcare professional before making any medical decisions.
