Los Angeles, CA - March 19, 2026 - The highly anticipated Black Family Wellness Expo is poised to return in 2026, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing conversation surrounding mental health and holistic well-being within the Black community. This year's expo isn't simply a continuation of past successes; it represents a strategic shift in focus, recognizing and responding to the escalating mental health needs uniquely experienced by Black families across the nation.

For years, the Expo has served as a vital hub for resources, education, and connection for Black families dedicated to prioritizing their health. But the landscape has changed. The confluence of systemic racism, economic disparities, ongoing trauma, and now, the lingering effects of a global pandemic, has created a perfect storm, exacerbating existing mental health challenges and creating new ones. Organizers acknowledge this reality and are intentionally building the 2026 Expo to be a space for healing, empowerment, and sustainable wellness.

"We've always been about promoting overall health, but the past few years have underscored the urgent need to address mental health head-on," explains Imani Roberts, Lead Organizer of the Black Family Wellness Expo. "Black families often face unique barriers to accessing mental healthcare - stigma, lack of culturally competent providers, financial constraints, and a mistrust of the healthcare system rooted in historical trauma. This Expo is about dismantling those barriers and creating a safe, affirming space where families can openly discuss their struggles, learn coping mechanisms, and connect with resources that truly understand their needs."

The 2026 Expo will boast an expanded program featuring a robust lineup of mental health workshops led by Black psychologists, therapists, and community leaders. Sessions will delve into critical topics such as stress management techniques tailored for the pressures faced by Black individuals and families, recognizing and addressing anxiety and depression, understanding and healing from trauma (including intergenerational trauma), and navigating grief and loss. Importantly, workshops will emphasize culturally relevant approaches to healing, recognizing the importance of spirituality, community support, and ancestral wisdom.

Beyond mental health, the Expo will continue its commitment to holistic wellness, recognizing that mental, physical, and spiritual health are interconnected. Attendees can expect demonstrations and interactive sessions on practices like mindfulness and meditation, restorative yoga specifically designed for Black bodies, nutritional guidance focused on soul food reimagined for optimal health, and the power of herbal remedies rooted in African and African American traditions. There will be a dedicated 'Healing Arts Village' showcasing Black artisans and practitioners offering services like massage, acupuncture, and energy work.

Health screenings will remain a core component, offering preventative care services such as blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, and vision tests. However, this year, screenings will also incorporate basic mental health assessments, providing attendees with a preliminary understanding of their emotional well-being and guidance on seeking further support if needed.

The Expo isn't just for adults. Recognizing the importance of early intervention, a dedicated 'KidZone' will offer engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote emotional literacy, healthy coping skills, and positive self-esteem. Workshops for teens will address topics like navigating social media, peer pressure, and identity formation, with a focus on building resilience and seeking help when needed.

The success of the Black Family Wellness Expo hinges on strong partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and local businesses. This year, organizers have forged alliances with several prominent organizations dedicated to Black mental health, including the Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Black Minds Matter chapter. These collaborations ensure the Expo provides access to the most up-to-date information and resources.

The Black Family Wellness Expo 2026 will be held on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Doors open at 9:00 AM. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
