Brendan Shanahan will not find a new landing spot in Long Island, as the New York Islanders have opted not to hire the former Toronto Maple Leafs president and alternate governor, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

Brendan Shanahan, the president and alternate governor of the Toronto Maple Leafs, confirmed that he had discussions with the New York Islanders regarding their president of hockey operations vacancy but stated that it is not the right fit for him at this time. Shanahan expressed his appreciation for the Islanders' interest and wished them well in their search. He emphasized his commitment to the Maple Leafs, where he has been instrumental in building the team's management and coaching staff since joining in 2014.
