BRUSSEL, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - February 1, 2009) -
Fortis holding announces that Mr Louis CHEUNG Chi Yan, member of the Fortis Board of Directors has resigned from the Board with immediate effect.
Mr Louis CHEUNG Chi Yan - Executive Director and Group President of Ping An - joined Fortis as a director in April 2008. Since then the Board has benefited greatly from Mr Cheung's experience in Fortis's growth markets. The Board wishes to thank Mr Cheung for his dedication and resilience in the extremely challenging circumstances in which the company had to operate during his board membership.
Furthermore, Mr Andrew Spencer Doman - who was nominated by Ping An as candidate for the Fortis Board of Directors - has withdrawn his candidacy.
Fortis holding (Fortis SA/NV and Fortis N.V.) consists of (1) Fortis Insurance Belgium (2) Fortis Insurance International, and (3) financial assets and liabilities of various financing vehicles. The international insurance activities (Fortis Insurance International) are located in the UK, France, Hong Kong, Luxembourg (Non-Life), Germany, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and in joint ventures in Luxembourg (Life), Portugal, China, Malaysia, India and Thailand. Fortis holding is not involved in banking activities.
