OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 16, 2009) - Bennett Environmental Inc. (TSX:BEV) (the "Company" or "BEI") today announced that it expects to receive the final shipments of contaminated soil from the storage vaults at Pottersburg Creek ("Pottersburg") this week. The Ontario government had previously announced the successful conclusion of the removal of over 104,000 tonnes of contaminated soil from the vaults, [ www.news.ontario.ca/ene/en/2009/12/last-truckload-of-pcbs-leaves-london-site.html ]. The Company expects that there will be some volume of contaminated soil found outside of the vaults that will be shipped for disposal at a later date.

On December 15, 2009, the Company had approximately 75,000 tonnes of material in storage at its Saint Ambroise, Quebec facility. Of this amount over 95% was from the Pottersburg site. The Company recognizes revenue as the material is processed.

The Company has operated its Saint Ambroise facility since early April processing material from a variety of projects, with a one week planned maintenance shutdown in November.
