On April 27, 2010, The Wall Street Journal (aWSJa) reported that the Company had increased the number of in-home therapy visits to trigger bonus Medicare reimbursements. On May 13, 2010, the WSJ reported that the Senate Finance Committee commenced an investigation of the billing and operating practices of the Company. On June 30, 2010, the Company announced that it received notice of a formal investigation from the Securities and Exchange Commission and received a subpoena for documents relating to matters under review by the Senate Committee. As a result of this news, shares of Amedisys fell substantially in early trading on July 1, 2010.
