New Fitness Center With Spa And Juice Bar Coming To UES

Upper East Side Gets a New Wellness Hub: Fitness Center, Spa, and Juice Bar Open Next Month
Patch – 29 Aug 2025
The Upper East Side (UES) is poised to add a fresh, health‑focused destination to its already bustling array of boutique shops, cafes, and cultural institutions. A new three‑story complex on 89 th Street and Lexington Avenue will open next month as a full‑service fitness center, spa, and juice bar, offering a one‑stop solution for locals who want to exercise, unwind, and nourish themselves all in one location.
The facility, named Renaissance Wellness Center, is the brainchild of former New York City park ranger‑turned‑fitness‑coach Jared Cohen and yoga instructor Marina Li. In an interview with Patch, Cohen explained that their goal was to create a “community hub where people can train, heal, and refuel without traveling far from their neighborhood.” Li echoed that sentiment, adding that the center’s “gentle‑and‑graceful atmosphere will appeal to anyone from high‑intensity CrossFit athletes to retirees looking for a calming escape.”
The center’s grand opening is slated for 10 September 2025. The building itself is a renovated brownstone that preserves the classic UES architecture while incorporating a modern, glass‑fronted lobby. A quick Google Street View shows the space’s gleaming terrazzo floors, exposed brick walls, and floor‑to‑ceiling windows that flood the interior with natural light.
What’s Inside
The upper floor is dedicated to fitness, offering more than 60 m² of cardio and strength training equipment, a full‑size climbing wall, and a state‑of‑the‑art weight‑lifting area. The ground floor houses a 200‑sq‑ft yoga studio that hosts 30‑minute “Sunrise Flow” classes every weekday at 6 a.m. and “Sunset Stretch” sessions at 7 p.m. In addition, the center will offer on‑site personal training, nutrition counseling, and specialized programs for seniors and people with chronic conditions.
The second floor, on the other hand, is a spa sanctuary. The Zen Spa features a full‑service massage suite, a hydrotherapy pool, a steam room, and a wellness kitchen that serves organic teas, detox drinks, and light snacks. A separate “wellness lounge” offers a curated selection of books, board games, and a calming playlist curated by Li herself.
At the rear of the building, the new Juice Bar & Café serves freshly pressed juices, smoothies, cold‑brew coffee, and a rotating menu of vegan and gluten‑free snacks. The bar’s menu, according to the center’s website, includes a “Triple‑C” detox smoothie (cucumber, celery, kale) and a “Golden‑Root” turmeric‑ginger latte. All drinks are certified organic and are prepared on‑site with a 12‑hour refrigeration system to preserve nutrients.
Memberships & Pricing
Renaissance Wellness Center offers several membership tiers designed to accommodate different needs and budgets. The “All‑Access” package, priced at $149 per month, grants unlimited use of all fitness equipment, access to all classes, priority spa appointments, and a complimentary juice bar voucher every month. The “Fit & Flex” tier, at $99 per month, covers fitness classes and the spa, while the “Zen‑Only” plan, at $79 per month, is limited to the yoga studio, the spa, and the juice bar.
The center also offers a family discount: “Two adults and one child under 12 get 20 % off the All‑Access plan,” Cohen explained. For people who want to try the center before committing, a one‑day pass is available for $25. The first 100 members who sign up before the opening will receive a free wellness kit—including a yoga mat, water bottle, and a tote bag—worth $75.
Community Engagement
The new wellness center is more than a commercial venture; it is positioned as a community partner. The center will host monthly “Health & Wellness” talks in collaboration with local doctors and nutritionists, as well as a quarterly “Community Open House” to invite residents to explore the facilities. In a statement on the center’s website, Li wrote, “We want to make fitness and wellness approachable for everyone in the neighborhood, not just the fit or the affluent.”
Patch notes that the UES has seen a growing interest in holistic health in recent years. Several nearby businesses—such as the East Side Café, the Upper East Side Bookstore, and the Brooklyn Museum—have begun offering discounts to members of local wellness clubs. The new center is expected to further boost foot traffic for the neighborhood’s retail and dining sectors.
Building the Future
The renovation of the 89 th Street building was completed by a local architectural firm, Goss & Sons, in collaboration with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. The project was designed to preserve the historic façade while integrating modern sustainability features. The center incorporates a rain‑water harvesting system for irrigation, LED lighting throughout, and a dedicated “green wall” that uses native plant species to improve indoor air quality.
According to Cohen, the center’s “green” credentials were a major factor in the design process. “We want to create a place that feels healthy and sustainable,” he said. “From the moment you step inside, we want people to feel the positive energy of our green features.”
Final Thoughts
As the UES continues to evolve, the addition of Renaissance Wellness Center will serve as a hub for physical fitness, mental relaxation, and nutrition education. The center’s combination of a top‑tier gym, a serene spa, and a juice bar—plus its community‑focused programming—offers residents a new, integrated approach to well‑being. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a busy professional, or simply someone who wants to try a new smoothie, the center’s open‑house events beginning next month provide an excellent opportunity to explore what it has to offer.
For more information, visit the center’s official site at www.ueswellnesscenter.com or contact the front desk at (212) 555‑0198. Patch will keep an eye on the development and will report on the community’s response to this exciting new addition.
