A study published in the journal PLOS ONE has found that teenagers with mental health concerns tend to spend more time on social media compared to their peers. The research, which analyzed data from over 1,000 adolescents in the United States, revealed that teens who reported higher levels of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues were more likely to engage in prolonged social media use. The study suggests that while social media can offer a sense of connection and support, excessive use might exacerbate mental health problems, highlighting the need for balanced and healthy online habits among young people.
