Medical Action Renews Major Three-Year, Sole Source Agreement to Supply Patient Bedside Plastics and Stainless Products

BRENTWOOD, N.Y.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Medical Action Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:MDCI), a leading supplier of medical and surgical disposable products, today announced that it has renewed a three-year, sole source national contract with Novation LLC, one of Americaa™s leading healthcare supply contracting companies, to provide patient bedside plastics and stainless steel products to the members of VHA Inc., the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista, LLC.

This agreement, which is effective July 1, 2010, is a renewal of an existing agreement between the two organizations and names Medical Action Industries Inc. as a sole vendor, it does not establish minimum purchase requirements or require Novationa™s members and affiliates to purchase the companya™s products.

Under the terms of the agreement Medical Action has also been selected to participate in Novationa™s aPatient Care Standardization Program,a which allows Medical Action to provide even greater value to the members served by Novation.

In addition to patient utensils, such as wash basins, bedpans and urinals, the agreement also calls for Medical Action to be the exclusive supplier of specimen containers, laboratory plastics, reusable plastics and stainless steel products through the NOVAPLUS® private label program. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
