Dudley boxing club wins charity funding in its fight to help those battling mental health issues
- Sonia Kumar, the newly elected Labour MP for Dudley, has praised a grassroots scheme that has provided a grant of
- 2,000 to Dudley's own Priory Park Boxing Club.
The Dudley Boxing Club has secured a £1,000 grant from the Movement for Good Awards to support its efforts in aiding individuals with mental health issues. The club, which has been operational for over 50 years, offers free boxing sessions aimed at improving mental well-being, particularly for those facing challenges like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The funding will help expand these sessions, providing a safe space for community members to engage in physical activity, build confidence, and foster a sense of belonging. The initiative has already shown positive outcomes, with participants reporting significant improvements in their mental health. This financial boost is part of a broader effort by the Movement for Good Awards to support local charities that enhance community health and well-being.
