Pickleball courts, batting cages and more, will be coming to David Street with the Planning Board's approval of a new health and fitness club.
The Southeast Sportsplex in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is undergoing a significant expansion with the addition of 12 new pickleball courts and two batting cages, set to open in the fall. This development, costing $1.5 million, is part of a broader initiative to enhance recreational facilities in the area. The project is funded through a combination of a $500,000 donation from the Cape Girardeau Area Community Foundation, $500,000 from the city's park sales tax, and $500,000 from the city's general fund. The new facilities aim to cater to the growing popularity of pickleball and provide more opportunities for youth sports, with the batting cages designed to be versatile for various sports. This expansion not only improves the Sportsplex's offerings but also supports community health and engagement by providing accessible sports facilities.
