Dozens killed in Kazakhstan passenger plane crash

  • Dozens of people have died after a passenger plane crashed with about 70 people on board in Kazakhstan, local officials say. Authorities in Azerbaijan, where the flight originated, say there were at least 30 survivors. Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 caught fire as it attempted to make an emergency landing near the Kazakh city of Aktau.

An Azerbaijan Airlines plane, en route from Almaty, Kazakhstan, to Baku, Azerbaijan, crashed shortly after takeoff, killing at least 12 people. The incident occurred when the Boeing 757, carrying 90 passengers and 10 crew members, experienced a technical malfunction leading to the crash. The plane hit the ground and caught fire, but many passengers and crew members survived. Emergency services responded promptly, and an investigation into the cause of the crash has been initiated.
