A new cardiac rehabilitation centre in the heart of Salmon Arm aims to help at-risk Shuswap residents recover better and live longer, healthier lives.
The Shuswap Cardiac Society has launched a new cardiac rehabilitation program in Salmon Arm, aimed at supporting individuals recovering from heart-related issues. This initiative, which began on January 16, offers a comprehensive approach including exercise, education, and counseling to help patients manage their heart health. The program is held at the Salmar Grand Theatre, where participants engage in activities designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, learn about nutrition, stress management, and medication management. The society, which has been active for 25 years, emphasizes the importance of community support in recovery, providing a local alternative to the previously distant facilities in Kamloops or Vernon. The program not only focuses on physical recovery but also on emotional and psychological well-being, fostering a supportive environment for heart patients in the Shuswap region.
