Implant Sciences Sponsors Global Sports Management Summit

Quantum Sniffers Provide a Key Layer of Security at Sporting Events

WILMINGTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 8, 2013) - [ Implant Sciences Corporation ] (OTCQB: [ IMSC ]), a high technology supplier of systems and sensors for homeland security and defense markets, today announced it is a supporting sponsor of the [ Global Sports Management Summit ], which will take place on May 8 to 10 in Chicago. The Global Sports Management Summit is the premier invitation-only meeting created for senior executives from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA, European Football and other professional sports globally. As a sponsor, Implant Sciences' executives will have the opportunity to engage with the key decision makers managing sporting events, venues and associated security matters.

Implant Sciences' Quantum Sniffers have been used to provide security at some of the highest profile sporting events in the world including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2011 Summer Universiade Games in Shenzhen, China, and the 2012 Special Olympics in London.

"While intelligence can often uncover potential attacks and law enforcement can interdict before an attack strikes, no one method can be completely effective at a sporting venue, or any other location. Good security involves multiple layers and techniques," stated Implant Sciences' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Dr. Darryl Jones. "At sporting events, there is one item that offers a unique security screening opportunity: the event ticket."

Quantum Sniffers are explosives trace detection systems that detect and identify threats from small amounts of explosives left behind after a person handles explosives. These traces stick to the hands and are subsequently transferred to everything an individual touches. Detectable amounts of explosives can be left on event tickets, making them a good vehicle for evaluating if someone has handled explosives.

"We are in talks with sporting events managers and are proposing a fast, non-contact method of security using our Quantum Sniffers. Our systems can scan tickets at the same time that fans present these tickets as they enter a stadium or arena, without creating a bottleneck or delay. This approach provides a combination of excellent detection performance with a strong deterrence factor," added Jones. "We believe the QS-H150 is the only ETD system in the market capable of achieving this feat, due to our continuous non-contact sampling capability."

"Our systems offer a non-intrusive and cost-effective way to add an extra layer of security at sporting events so that fans can enjoy a game with greater peace of mind. Having served to protect global events, including the Olympics, we realize Quantum Sniffers can be deployed on the home front here in the U.S. as well as abroad," stated Implant Sciences' President and CEO, Glenn D. Bolduc.
