  • With NASA's landmark mission Dragonfly "drone"mission to Saturn's moon Titan set for launch in 2028, a new study suggests that only a small amount of life could exist.

A recent study suggests that potential alien life on Saturn's moon Titan could be comparable in size to a small dog, challenging previous assumptions about the scale of life forms in Titan's methane lakes. Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, used data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft to model the possible size and structure of hypothetical life forms, concluding that organisms could be as large as a small dog, around 10-15 kilograms. This finding expands the scope of what scientists consider possible in Titan's unique environment, where liquid methane and ethane lakes exist instead of water, and it fuels ongoing discussions about the potential for life beyond Earth.
