  • After the falls, McConnell was seen in a wheelchair as "purely a precautionary measure," a McConnell spokesperson said. "Senator McConnell is fine. The lingering effects of polio in his left leg will not disrupt his regular schedule of work," the spokesperson continued.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell experienced two falls at the Capitol, one on Wednesday and another on Thursday, but was reported to be fine, using a wheelchair as a precaution. The first incident occurred when McConnell tripped at a reception, and the second happened while he was exiting a plane. Despite these falls, his spokesperson confirmed that McConnell was not injured and continued his work, including attending a fundraiser. These events have raised concerns about the 81-year-old senator's health, especially given his past polio diagnosis, but his office has reassured the public of his mental fitness and capability to serve.
