  • Strava, one of the best fitness apps, deleted almost all external URLs on its platform in September 2024, and stopped users posting them altogether. However, as of March 3, users can now post links again on athlete profiles, club descriptions, event descriptions and activity descriptions.

Strava, the popular fitness tracking app, has reversed its decision to ban external links on its platform following significant user backlash. Initially, Strava implemented this ban to combat spam and reduce the spread of misleading information. However, the move was met with criticism from its community, who use the platform not only for tracking activities but also for sharing related content like blogs, fundraising pages, and personal websites. After reconsideration, Strava announced that it would once again allow external links, acknowledging the importance of these links for community engagement and personal expression. The company plans to introduce new measures to manage spam and misinformation while ensuring that the platform remains a space for genuine interaction and sharing among its users.
