The former Mister Twisters play centre in Hartlepool is set to be transformed into a 24/7 gym following approval by Hartlepool Borough Council's planning committee. Despite objections from local residents concerning potential noise, anti-social behavior, and parking issues, the council approved the conversion of the site into a fitness center. The new gym, proposed by Hartlepool Development Corporation, will operate around the clock and is expected to create 10 new jobs. The facility will include a main gym area, a studio, changing rooms, and office space. Concerns were raised about the impact on the neighborhood, particularly regarding noise from late-night operations and the adequacy of parking facilities. However, the planning officers recommended approval, highlighting that the gym would bring economic benefits and that conditions could be imposed to mitigate noise and other disturbances.
