  • A public health alert was issued for fully cooked pork carnitas that may be contaminated with pieces of metal sold at Aldi.

Park Street Deli's pork carnitas, sold at Aldi stores in several states including California, Illinois, and Texas, have been recalled due to misbranding and the presence of an undeclared wheat allergen, which poses a risk to individuals with wheat allergies or severe sensitivity. The recalled product, packaged in 12-ounce plastic containers with lot numbers 32161 and 32171, and a use-by date of 06/28/2024, was produced on May 16, 2024, and distributed to Aldi stores in 14 states. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it and to either return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of it. No adverse reactions have been reported to date, but the recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product contained wheat, not listed on the label.
