The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for several acne treatment products from brands like La Roche-Posay, Proactiv, and Walgreens due to the presence of high levels of benzene, a known carcinogen. The affected products include La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Acne Treatment, Proactiv's 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cream, and Walgreens' BPO 10% Acne Wash. Benzene was found in these products at levels exceeding the FDA's recommended concentration, which could potentially lead to health risks with long-term exposure. Consumers are advised to stop using these products immediately and to dispose of them properly. The recall was initiated after an independent lab, Valisure, detected benzene in these treatments, prompting the FDA to take action to protect public health.
