Health officials in West Virginia have issued a warning about a potential measles exposure following a confirmed case in an unvaccinated individual who traveled through the state. The person visited several locations in Kanawha County, including the Charleston Town Center Mall, Sam's Club, and the Mardi Gras Casino, between July 19 and July 21, 2023. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is urging anyone who might have been in these areas during the specified times to monitor for symptoms of measles, which include high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. They are also encouraging unvaccinated individuals to get vaccinated to prevent further spread of the disease.
